I knew that I should be patient, but I checked the recordings the next morning and . . . holy shit.

Claire wasn’t just breaking my rules this time. She was provoking me on purpose—pushing, testing, and seeing just how far she could take things before my control would snap. It was clear that she was challenging me like no other woman ever had, deliberately trying to see how much she could push her bad behavior and what kind of punishments I’d have in store for her.

She had no idea what she was getting herself into, or just how uncivilized I could be. That blow job was nothing compared to the depraved things I wanted to do to her.

I wasn’t surprised, exactly, that she’d immediately violated my orders and gave herself an orgasm after I left, making sure I could see exactly what she was doing in the video feed, which had made my dick rock hard.

But honestly, Claire’s rebellious nature and refusal to easily submit to me were things that drew me to her. There was nothing meek or mild about her, and that spitfire personality excited and invigorated me. Watching her acquiesce to me and my orders would taste so much sweeter, be such a bigger victory, given how she’d dug her heels in before.

But while I wasn’t surprised at her actions, I was still a little taken aback that she did it so quickly. I suspected she’d do something to defy my orders, but the way she waited only the bare minimum of time before getting herself off while moaning my name and taunting me about fucking her… I felt like she’d thrown down the gauntlet. Do your worst.

My jaw clenched tight. Oh, I would do my worst, all right. Claire was going to find out exactly what happened when I had to discipline a bratty submissive.

I was tempted as hell to go back to the cabin right fucking now and show her the meaning of discipline and obedience, but I knew that I had to focus on this job, too. As much as I wanted to forget about the world and just focus on fucking Claire into a new realm of pleasure, this wasn’t some sex vacation. Her life was in danger, and I had to find out why.

Susan’s information had made me wary of another company that I wasn’t aware of, a company that had been trying to recruit Richard for less-than-legal purposes. But I wasn’t going to stop investigating Hardman Holdings, either.

Who knew what Susan had really heard? She’d interpreted things a certain way, but that might not be the case. I had my gut instincts, and I’d learned to listen to those long ago, to sharpen them from a blunt hammer into a fine blade. And my gut was telling me that I needed to look harder into the company that Richard already worked for.
